Date Night at Pijalni — a Romantic Evening in Wrocław
The door from the street is easy to miss. You step inside — and it's immediately warmer, quieter, slower. Brick walls, low lighting, contemporary art. Twenty-five seats. No background playlist competing with your conversation. This is not a place for being seen — it's a place for actually being together.

What an evening looks like
You arrive around seven. Dominika — the sommelier, WSET Level 3, the person who imports wines with Geek Wines — suggests something to start. Maybe a pet-nat from the Jura? A glass of Muscadet from the Loire? Each of you can order something different, because the Coravin system means a dozen wines are always open by the glass. No compromising on a bottle you’ll half enjoy.
For starters — beef tartare with fresh greens, oysters, or burrata with seasonal fruit. It depends on the season, because chef Tomasz Wencek — trained at Albert Ventura's Coure and Michelin-starred Alkimia in Barcelona — changes the menu with the seasons. The season dictates the card, not the other way around.

Mains come from the grill and open fire — it’s Tomek’s signature. Fish of the day, braised beef cheeks, confit pork belly. Everything sourced locally, often from farmers Tomek knows by name. Dominika pairs wine with each course — and she’s good enough that you just trust her and enjoy the ride.
Dessert? Pear poached in wine with ice cream, or chocolate fondant with salted nuts. You won’t want to leave. That’s probably the best review anyone can give.

Wine for two
Most restaurants force you into a bottle. Pijalni doesn’t. The Coravin system lets us pour wine without opening the bottle, so each of you can drink something different. Start with something sparkling (pet-nat from 28 PLN / €6.50 a glass). Move through white or orange. With your main — a light red from Beaujolais, or something from the Jura. A glass starts at 22 PLN (about €5).
Dominika doesn’t recite a list — she asks what you’re in the mood for. If you’re new to natural wine, this is the perfect moment to start. If you know your way around — she has things in the back room that aren’t on the menu.
